| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to | 4 |
| the family and friends of Wendell D. Lambert of Harrisburg, who | 5 |
| passed away on December 19, 2005; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was born on January 6, 1942 in | 7 |
| Harrisburg to the late Jimmie Lambert and Ludean (Hibbs) | 8 |
| Lambert, who survives; on September 11, 1961, he married the | 9 |
| former Sue Donovan; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was a 1960 graduate of Harrisburg | 11 |
| Township High School; he attended Southern Illinois University | 12 |
| and graduated from the Indiana School of Mortuary Science; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lambert began his mortuary career at funeral | 14 |
| homes in Robinson and Grayville, before returning to Harrisburg | 15 |
| to work at Gibbons Funeral Home; he was later hired by Bert and | 16 |
| Bob Gaskins to work at Gaskins Funeral Home, where he worked | 17 |
| for over 26 years; and he founded Lambert Family Funeral Home | 18 |
| in Harrisburg; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In 1972, at the age of 30, he was elected Saline | 20 |
| County Coroner, a position he held for 24 years, being | 21 |
| re-elected 5 times; and
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was also active in his community; | 23 |
| he had been a Boy Scout leader, a longtime Republican precinct | 24 |
| committeeman, an adjunct professor in the mortuary science | 25 |
| department at Southern Illinois University, a past president of | 26 |
| the Illinois Coroner's Association, a member of the Illinois | 27 |
| Funeral Director's Association, and a member of the National | 28 |
| Funeral Director's Association; he was also a member of St. | 29 |
| Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg; and

| WHEREAS, Even with all of his other many achievements, Mr. | 2 |
| Lambert was the most proud of his family; and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Wendell D. Lambert will be felt by | 4 |
| all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Sue; his sons, | 5 |
| Todd (Nancy) Lambert and Jamie Lambert; his daughters, Kelli | 6 |
| (Tom) Butler and Bridgett (Clinton) Wells; his sister, Patty | 7 |
| Lambert; his brothers, Jimmie Dale Lambert and Larry Lambert; | 8 |
| his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jillian, and Noah Lambert, Shea | 9 |
| and Hanna Butler, and Jeremiah Wells; and a host of loving | 10 |
| relatives, friends, and church members; he was preceded in | 11 |
| death by his father and 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Ashton, Dakota, | 12 |
| Donovan, and Addision Well; therefore, be it
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 14 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 15 |
| we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of | 16 |
| Wendell D. Lambert; and be it further
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 |
| presented to the family of Wendell D. Lambert with our sincere | 19 |
| condolences.
