| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois
were saddened to learn of the death of | 4 |
| Charles Johnson Collins of Arthur on Thursday, July 22, 2004; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Collins was born on August 24, 1913 near | 7 |
| Lovington, the son of Clifton C. and Harriet E. Johnson | 8 |
| Collins; he married Margaret Pyle in Rockford on December 12, | 9 |
| 1969; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Collins attended the University of Illinois | 11 |
| for one year in 1934, but a lack of money during the Great | 12 |
| Depression forced him to leave school; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Collins was employed as General Manager of | 14 |
| West Chevrolet in Lovington; in January, 1950, the dealership | 15 |
| moved to Arthur where he was General Manager until the summer | 16 |
| of 1953; he was then employed as a Service Equipment Manager | 17 |
| for National Petro Chemical Corp. in Tuscola until the fall of | 18 |
| 1954; he returned to Arthur as an employee of Ivan Trulock | 19 |
| Chevrolet; in 1955, he and Gayle Daugherty purchased the | 20 |
| Chevrolet dealership from Mr. Trulock and formed Collins and | 21 |
| Daugherty Chevrolet, which they operated until 1976, at which | 22 |
| time Mr. Collins retired; and | 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Collins served on the Dealers Council Peoria | 24 |
| Zone during 1973 and 1974; he was an election judge starting in | 25 |
| 1994; he was affiliated with the Lovington Christian Church and | 26 |
| was a member of the Lovington AF & AM Masonic Lodge; he enjoyed | 27 |
| fishing, golf, gardening, trap shooting, and music; and
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Johnson Collins has been | 29 |
| deeply felt by many, especially
his wife, Margaret; his | 30 |
| daughters, Betty Walthall and her husband Louis, and Susan |

| Starkey and her husband Darrell; his stepsons, Kerry | 2 |
| Fitzjarrald and his wife Mary Jo, and Kevin Fitzjarrald and his | 3 |
| wife Sheryl; his stepdaughter, Cheryl Blackwell and her husband | 4 |
| Bill; his brother, Jack Collins; his grandsons, Gale Starkey | 5 |
| and his wife Christine, and Chris Starkey; his granddaughters, | 6 |
| Jill Stahl and her husband Rev. Jeff, and Suzanne Walthall; his | 7 |
| step-grandsons, Jared Blackwell, Jeremy Blackwell, Joshua | 8 |
| Blackwell, Jason Fitzjarrald, and Alex Fitzjarrald; his | 9 |
| step-granddaughters, Sami Golliher and Rhendy Fitzjarrald; his | 10 |
| great-grandson, Michael Starkey; his great-granddaughters, | 11 |
| Sarah Stahl, Cati Walthall, and Emily Starkey; and his | 12 |
| step-great-grandson, Caleb Fitzjarrald; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by two brothers | 14 |
| and three sisters; therefore, be it
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 16 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 17 |
| mourn the death of Charles Johnson Collins along with all who | 18 |
| knew and loved him and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 19 |
| family and friends; and be it further
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 |
| presented to the family of Mr. Collins as an expression of our | 22 |
| deepest sympathy.
