| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Tema Cruz of Decatur, who passed away on | 4 | | March 13, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tema Cruz was born in Danville on September 23, | 6 | | 1924 to Daniel de La and Stella Perchman-Cruz; he served, with | 7 | | honors, in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 | 8 | | to 1946 in the Eastern Theater; he married Betty Jean Hood on | 9 | | March 2, 1954; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Tema Cruz retired as a molder from Wagner's | 11 | | Castings Foundry after over 45 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Tema Cruz was a Democratic precinct committeeman | 13 | | for many years; he enjoyed spending summers coaching Bronco and | 14 | | Pony League baseball in the 1970s; he helped develop the Junior | 15 | | Football League in its early years and coached middle school | 16 | | basketball; he could be found at all of his children's and | 17 | | grandchildren's sporting events; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Tema Cruz was preceded in death by his parents; | 19 | | brother, Theodore; and sister, Freda; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Tema Cruz is survived by his wife of 60 years, |

| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Tema Cruz, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 10 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Tema Cruz as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
