| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Shirley Mae Brubaker of Elgin, who passed | 4 | | away on October 21, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was born in Hartville, Ohio to | 6 | | Florence (Kurtz) and William A. Anstine on January 25, 1930; | 7 | | she attended Manchester College in Indiana; she married Edward | 8 | | L. Brubaker in 1951 and they settled in Elgin; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker worked for the YMCA; she also | 10 | | worked for WJKL as the Community Club Representative; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was a member of the Church of the | 12 | | Brethren and worked for the church magazine, "Messenger", for | 13 | | several years; she celebrated a 50-year membership in PEO, | 14 | | serving as president and in several other officer positions; | 15 | | she was a member of the Elgin Garden Club and the Elgin Junior | 16 | | Service Board; she loved to garden, play bridge, and travel | 17 | | with her husband and family; she played golf for many years | 18 | | with the Spartanettes Golf League; she was famous for her | 19 | | homemade pies and shared them at every dinner, birthday, and | 20 | | holiday; she was a collector of bunny figurines from all of her | 21 | | travels and those she just thought were "cute"; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker was preceded in death by her | 2 | | parents; her husband of 54 years, Edward; and her sister, | 3 | | Bernice Schumacher; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Shirley Brubaker is survived by her daughters, | 5 | | Tricia Hernandez and Sally Vincent (William); her | 6 | | grandchildren, Samuel Roberts, Kate Vincent (Josh Muller,) | 7 | | Benjamin Vincent, and Michael Hernandez; and her sister, | 8 | | Dorothy Francis; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Shirley Mae Brubaker, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
