| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles M. Walker of Catlin, who passed | 4 | | away on September 19, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker was born on December 10, 1927 in | 6 | | Mize, Mississippi; his parents were Charles Green and Molly | 7 | | Little Walker; he married Gladys Forbes on October 1, 1948 in | 8 | | Shaw, Mississippi; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker volunteered for the United States | 10 | | Navy at the age of 17; he served on a tanker transporting fuel | 11 | | from California to aircraft carriers and air bases in the South | 12 | | Pacific, China, the Aleutian Islands, Attu, Adak, Kodiak, and | 13 | | Anchorage, Alaska; he later served at new bases in Yokohama, | 14 | | Nagasaki, and Tokyo; he was discharged from the Navy in 1947 | 15 | | and began farming; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker graduated from an agricultural | 17 | | college under the GI Bill while farming; in 1955, he began | 18 | | working for Tennaco, a cross country pipeline company; in 1959, | 19 | | they transferred him to Danville and, while there, he made | 20 | | Catlin his home; in 1967, he founded Walker Real Estate in | 21 | | Danville; he continued working full time up until his passing; | 22 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker was a Real Estate Managing Broker | 2 | | for the State of Illinois; he was a member of the Danville Area | 3 | | Board of Realtors from 1975 until his passing and served on | 4 | | numerous committees throughout the years; he was also a member | 5 | | of the Farmland Institute and Realtor Land Institute and the | 6 | | National, State, and Local Association of Realtors and was a | 7 | | certified residential Real Estate Appraiser; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker was a member of Calvary Baptist | 9 | | Church, where he taught Sunday school, and served on various | 10 | | committees and boards; he served as the treasurer for Vermilion | 11 | | County Museum and was a member of the Catlin Lions Club, | 12 | | Gideon's, the Danville Noon Kiwanis, and the Catlin Historical | 13 | | Society; he was also a member of the Homebuilders Association, | 14 | | Toastmasters, and the Christian Home for Youth; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker was a past Catlin Citizen of the | 16 | | Year; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker was preceded in death by his wife, | 18 | | Gladys; his parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and his grandson, | 19 | | Chase; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Walker is survived by his son, Cullen Z. | 21 | | (Constance) Walker; his daughter, Pam (Bill) Nave; his sister, |

| 1 | | Winnie Walker; his grandchildren, Chad Boyd, Cale (Jody) Boyd, | 2 | | Heather (Chris) Rabkin, Faithe (Rob) Collins, Charlie (April) | 3 | | Walker, and Cody (Miranda) Walker; and his 17 | 4 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 7 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles M. Walker; and | 8 | | be it further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of Charles Walker as an expression of | 11 | | our sympathy.
