| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of former Danville Commissioner of Parks and | 4 | | Public Property, Raymond T. "Ray" Randall, who passed away on | 5 | | January 24, 2015; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was born in Danville on May 26, | 7 | | 1933 to Raymond D. and Leona L. (nee Thirion) Randall; he | 8 | | served in the United States Navy as a Second Class Yeoman | 9 | | during the Korean conflict; he married Phyllis Varner on April | 10 | | 16, 1955; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall worked in sales at Thirion Glass | 12 | | Co. for several years and later at Hyster NACCO; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall served for 12 years as Danville's | 14 | | Commissioner of Parks and Public Property under the city's | 15 | | former mayor-commission form of government; as Commissioner, | 16 | | he made many playground renovations, acquired grants for | 17 | | improvements to Ellsworth Park, and implemented summer park | 18 | | play and recreation programs; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was a member of Danville American | 20 | | Legion Post 210, the Knights of Columbus, the Danville Rotary | 21 | | Club, UCT, and the Danville Elks; he was a Red Vest volunteer |

| 1 | | at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center with over 12,000 | 2 | | hours of community service from 1993 until 2014; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall enjoyed bowling in the Elks | 4 | | bowling league and was active in Little League baseball with | 5 | | the Danville American Legion; he was an avid St. Louis | 6 | | Cardinals fan and loved sports; he could be found in the stands | 7 | | at all his grandkids' sporting events, and when he was not in | 8 | | the stands cheering on their teams, he was in the announcer's | 9 | | booth as The Voice of the Toppers for Schlarman High School for | 10 | | several years; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall was preceded in death by his | 12 | | parents; his wife, Phyllis; and his son, Mick Randall; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Randall is survived by his son, Rick | 14 | | (Mary) Randall; his daughters, Terri (Larry) Jaggers and Cherri | 15 | | (Scott) Drews; his grandchildren, Christin (Dusty) | 16 | | Randall-Murray, Cory Randall, Tara (Zack) Holycross, Travis | 17 | | Jaggers, Blair Drews, and Brock Drews; his | 18 | | great-grandchildren, Caden Billingsley, Jaycie Jenkins, Cooper | 19 | | and Cruz Murray, and Easton Drews; his sister, Jackie (Roman) | 20 | | Wagner; his special niece, Pat Cunningham; and many nieces and | 21 | | nephews; therefore, be it
