| 2 | | WHEREAS, Tens of millions of Americans are affected by | 3 | | bladder diseases and conditions, including urinary | 4 | | incontinence, overactive bladder, underactive bladder, | 5 | | interstitial cystitis, nocturia, urinary tract infections, | 6 | | bladder cancer, urotrauma, and neurogenic bladder; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Bladder diseases and conditions have significant | 8 | | impact on health and quality of life, contributing to | 9 | | depression, social isolation, falls, sexual dysfunction, loss | 10 | | of self-esteem, hospitalizations, nursing home admissions, and | 11 | | even death; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Medical and behavioral research to better | 13 | | understand and maintain bladder health and treat bladder | 14 | | diseases is critically needed, yet poorly recognized; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bladder problems are highly stigmatized; open | 16 | | dialogue generated by the designation of a Bladder Health Month | 17 | | can reduce stigma and empower providers and patients to have | 18 | | much-needed conversations about bladder health; therefore, be | 19 | | it
