| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William E. "Bill" Thomas Sr., who passed | 4 | | away on June 2, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Thomas was born in Lerna to Roy and Margaret | 6 | | Thomas on April 30, 1932; he married Norma Tate on December 9, | 7 | | 1951; he served in the U.S. Army while living in Texas; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bill Thomas worked at Hays Freightline before | 9 | | moving to Springfield in 1955; his lifelong career started with | 10 | | Westinghouse Elevator, where he retired after 28 years; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Thomas enjoyed camping with his wife, | 12 | | fishing, and playing cards with his friends; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bill Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; | 14 | | his brother, Kenny; and his sister, Delores; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bill Thomas is survived by his wife of 68 years, | 16 | | Norma; his children, Connie Thomas, Ed Thomas, Jim (Julie) | 17 | | Thomas, and Steve (Mary Lou) Thomas; his seven grandchildren; | 18 | | and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
