| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Richard A. "Dick" Switzer | 4 |
| of Kewanee on Sunday, March 13, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in Kewanee on July 24, 1926, to Burns | 6 |
| and Philomena (VanRamedonk) Switzer; he graduated from | 7 |
| Wethersfield High School, where he was a track star; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Switzer valiantly served his country as a | 9 |
| member of the U.S. Army; he was an infantryman and then in the | 10 |
| 11th Airborne; he served in the occupation of Japan; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He married Alice Ouart on April 21, 1951, in | 12 |
| Kewanee; he had worked as a pressman for the Star Courier and | 13 |
| later as a custodian and bus driver for Wethersfield School; he | 14 |
| enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, collecting arrowheads, and | 15 |
| playing cards; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Richard A. "Dick" Switzer has been | 17 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Alice; his son, | 18 |
| Robert (Becky) Switzer; his daughter, Mrs. Don (Sandra) Wirth; | 19 |
| his grandchildren, Nicholas Switzer, Mrs. Craig (Valerie) | 20 |
| Schneider, and Ryan Switzer; his great-grandson, Max | 21 |
| Schneider; and his brother, Roger VanZandbergen; he was | 22 |
| preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gilberta Wozniak; | 23 |
| his twin brother, Robert, in infancy; and his granddaughter, | 24 |
| Tara; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 26 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 27 |
| Richard A. "Dick" Switzer, and we extend our deepest sympathy | 28 |
| to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 29 |
| it further
