| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James Edward Butler of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on May 2, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Butler was born in Jefferson County, Georgia | 6 | | on May 10, 1935 to Julia Mae (nee Thompson) Davis; upon the | 7 | | passing of his mother and step-father, Walter Davis, he was | 8 | | adopted by Roland and Helen Butler; he attended New Brighton | 9 | | High School, and, in 1954, he joined the United States Navy and | 10 | | was stationed on the destroyer USS Clarence K. Bronson DD-668; | 11 | | he received the Navy Occupation Service Medal "E" Clasp, the | 12 | | Good Conduct Medal, and was given an Honorable Discharge in | 13 | | 1958; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, James Butler moved to North Chicago in 1971 and | 15 | | was employed at International Harvester in Libertyville; he | 16 | | also worked as a carpenter and remodeled many homes in Lake | 17 | | County; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, James Butler enjoyed fishing, playing cards with | 19 | | friends, and spending time with his family; he traveled | 20 | | extensively throughout the United States; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, James Butler was preceded in death by his mother; |

| 1 | | stepfather; adoptive parents; wife, Evelyn Bray Butler; | 2 | | step-daughter, Sonia Pherris Webb; long-time friend and | 3 | | companion, Viola Truitt Jackson; and his aunt, Annie Jessie | 4 | | Thompson Turner; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Butler is survived by his step-sons, LaMonte | 6 | | Bray and Muricle Bray; cousins, Eula Rodgers, Isaiah | 7 | | (Constella) Turner, Susie Fisher, and Samuel (Marsha) Turner; | 8 | | and a host of other relatives and dear friends; therefore, be | 9 | | it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | James Edward Butler, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of James Butler as an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
