| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a long history of | 3 | | producing agricultural products and
innovation in the | 4 | | agricultural field; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Illinois is a leading producer of corn, soybeans, | 6 | | and swine, and because of its
favorable climate and soil, | 7 | | produces many other agricultural items such as fruits and | 8 | | vegetables,
livestock, and even Christmas trees; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Illinois' 74,300 farms cover approximately 27 | 10 | | million acres and have an average
size of 358 acres; they | 11 | | produce not only crops and raise livestock, but also provide | 12 | | many hunting,
fishing, and other outdoor opportunities; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Illinois' agricultural commodities generate over | 14 | | $19 billion annually in addition to
billions more in farm | 15 | | machinery, agricultural real estate, and production; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois food industry employs almost one | 17 | | million people who transport, market,
and process agricultural | 18 | | products for use to the entire world; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Illinois' transportation infrastructure allows | 20 | | the export of over $8.2 billion worth of
agricultural goods to |

| 1 | | the world, making it third in the nation; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Illinois farmers have to meet many various | 3 | | requirements, and possess numerous
licenses and permits to sell | 4 | | goods, operate machinery, and properly care for their crops, | 5 | | animals,
and land; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, These various requirements are mandated to be | 7 | | renewed at different times of the
year; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, During the current fiscal crisis, many State | 9 | | agencies are reducing services and not
notifying license | 10 | | holders of pending expirations in order to save money; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 13 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 14 | | urge the Illinois Commerce
Commission, the Illinois Secretary | 15 | | of State, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the Illinois
| 16 | | Department of Natural Resources, and any other agencies or | 17 | | entities that they see fit, to work
together to synchronize the | 18 | | expiration and renewal dates of all State-mandated licenses, | 19 | | permits,
and other requirements necessary to successfully | 20 | | operate a farm in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| 21 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies be delivered to Secretary of |
