| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Leigh "Bob" Switzer of Johnsburg, | 4 | | who passed away on December 29, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was born in Chicago to Russell and D. | 6 | | Roma (Schladorn) Switzer on January 8, 1932; his family moved | 7 | | to McHenry in 1947 and he graduated from McHenry East High | 8 | | School in 1950; he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the | 9 | | 1950s and married Carol Arvidson in Crystal Lake on September | 10 | | 15, 1956; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was well known in the marine industry | 12 | | for manufacturing, promoting, and racing boats for the Switzer | 13 | | Craft Boat Company; his racing successes included three | 14 | | national outboard racing championships and winner of the Albany | 15 | | to New York marathon in 1953; he loved to share stories with | 16 | | friends and families about how he overcame obstacles to win | 17 | | races; after the business was sold in 1982, he continued to | 18 | | manage the property and transformed it into a successful retail | 19 | | space; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was a loving husband, father, | 21 | | grandfather, and great-grandfather and brought wisdom and fun | 22 | | into everyday experiences; he parlayed his love of boating and |

| 1 | | racing into his family experiences with frequent trips to Lake | 2 | | Cumberland, Kentucky and regular boating excursions on the | 3 | | Chain of Lakes waterway; he also enjoyed snowmobiling and | 4 | | belonged to a local motorcycle club; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Switzer is survived by his wife of 61 years, | 6 | | Carol; his children, Nancy (Steven) Kasprzyk, Tracy (Cari) | 7 | | Switzer, Steven (Jami) Switzer, and Peter (Cushie) Switzer; 12 | 8 | | grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, David | 9 | | (Marilyn) Switzer; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Robert Leigh "Bob" Switzer, and extend our sincere condolences | 13 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 14 | | it further
