| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard | 4 | | "Dick" Lindholm, who passed away on October 26, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was born in Chicago to Alfred and | 6 | | Ida (Carlson) Lindholm on October 25, 1927; he graduated from | 7 | | Geneva High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army; he | 8 | | attended Aurora College and the University of Chicago School of | 9 | | Business; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was an accomplished and successful | 11 | | businessman; he began his career as an entrepreneur when he | 12 | | purchased Melvin Electronics; he later transformed the corner | 13 | | of Anderson Boulevard and State Street when he purchased and | 14 | | remodeled a former industrial building into an attractive | 15 | | commercial property; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm served as an alderman for the city | 17 | | of Geneva from 1959 to 1965 and as mayor of Geneva from 1965 to | 18 | | 1973; he also served as Geneva Township Supervisor; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, During his time as mayor of Geneva, the city | 20 | | created its first zoning ordinance and future land use map, | 21 | | which was not amended until 1995; the land-cash ordinance was |

| 1 | | to make developers pay for utilities to be extended to their | 2 | | new subdivisions; Geneva was the first town in the State of | 3 | | Illinois to develop a land-cash ordinance that was not | 4 | | challenged in court; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was preceded in death by his parents | 6 | | and his daughter, Susan Jackson; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm is survived by his wife of 70 years, | 8 | | Elsie "Mickey" (Johnson); his daughters, Deborah Lindholm, | 9 | | Carol (Don) Peterson, Janet (Leo) McGill, and Nancy (Steve | 10 | | Goad) Lindholm; his son-in-law, Don Jackson; his | 11 | | grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Dana, Cherie, Janel, Helena, | 12 | | Timothy, and Lily; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, | 13 | | Charlotte Brigham; his nephews, Michael and David Brigham; and | 14 | | numerous other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 16 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 17 | | mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" Lindholm and extend our | 18 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 19 | | and loved him; and be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Dick Lindholm as an expression of | 22 | | our deepest sympathy.
