| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John Charles Schmitt of Algonquin, who | 4 | | passed away on July 25, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt was born to Charles W. and Alice E. | 6 | | (Dean) Schmitt in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania on May 14, | 7 | | 1948; he married Cheryl A. Wilk at Blessed Sacrament Church in | 8 | | Natrona Heights in November of 1970; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt served in the United States Navy from | 10 | | 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971; he then worked for | 11 | | AT&T for over 40 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt was a devoted public servant who | 13 | | served as an Algonquin Village Trustee from 1993-2003 and as | 14 | | Algonquin Village President from 2003 until his death; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan; | 16 | | he enjoyed Formula One racing, vintage and sports cars, | 17 | | cooking, the Chautauqua Institution, his dogs, and his Galena | 18 | | retreat; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt was preceded in death by his parents; | 20 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Schmitt is survived by his wife; his two | 2 | | daughters, Kimberly J. Schmitt (Lawrence Rhyner Jr.) and | 3 | | Elizabeth A. (Nathaniel) Brechler; his five grandchildren, | 4 | | Ethan, Jackson, Emma, Amelia, and Allyson; and his brother, | 5 | | Thomas (Kate) Schmitt; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 8 | | John Charles Schmitt and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 12 | | presented to the family of John Schmitt as an expression of
our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
