| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Allen Hallberg Myers of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on July 20, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Allen Myers was born to Alson and Myrtle | 6 | | (Hallberg) Myers near Centralia on November 3, 1931; he | 7 | | attended Centralia High School and then Southern Illinois | 8 | | University, earning a degree in geology and geography in 1952; | 9 | | after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy; he started | 10 | | electronics training on Treasure Island in San Francisco and | 11 | | then attended officer candidate school in Providence, Rhode | 12 | | Island, commissioning as a lieutenant junior grade; he married | 13 | | Lena Pantaleo in Du Quoin on July 13, 1953, and they moved to | 14 | | Monterey, California for his post-graduate studies before | 15 | | relocating to San Diego, where he served as head electronics | 16 | | officer on the USS Winston; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Upon leaving the Navy in 1956, Allen Myers joined | 18 | | his father in running the family farm, Myers Orchards; after | 19 | | selling the farm in 1990, he went into business development at | 20 | | Kaskaskia College and then became a real estate broker with | 21 | | Coldwell Banker; over the course of his career, he earned | 22 | | numerous awards with the Illinois Association of Realtors; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Allen Myers served as President of the Illinois | 2 | | Horticultural Society and as Board President of the Centralia | 3 | | First Christian Church; he was a member of the Rotary Club and | 4 | | the Shriners Club; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Allen Myers is survived by his wife, Lena Myers; | 6 | | his children, Chris Myers (Janet M. Myers), Brian Myers, and | 7 | | Janet K. Myers; his grandchildren, Laura Sivertsen (Matt | 8 | | Sivertsen), Andrea Myers (Drew Cunningham), and Leah | 9 | | Zimmermann (Adam Zimmermann); his great-grandchildren, | 10 | | Christopher Sivertsen and Abraham Zimmermann; his sisters, | 11 | | Mary Renfro (Lloyd Shaw), Jean Hutter, and Rose Davidson; and | 12 | | his beloved nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 15 | | Allen Hallberg Myers and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 17 | | further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 19 | | presented to the family of Allen Myers as an expression of
our | 20 | | deepest sympathy.
