1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Eric
4 E. DeWit, a patrolman of the Matteson Police Department, at
5 23 years of age; and
6 WHEREAS, Eric DeWit was on duty when he was killed in the
7 line of duty as the result of a tragic vehicle accident; and
8 WHEREAS, Eric DeWit's passing will be deeply felt by
9 many, especially his wife, Monique "Demi", nee Rush; his
10 one-month-old daughter, Kylie; his parents, Dariel nee
11 Purcell and Eugene DeWit; his brothers, Marc and Adam DeWit;
12 his grandparents, Dariel "Dale" (Robert) Mongeau; his
13 mother-in-law, Melody Rush; his brother-in-law, Erich Rush;
14 and many beloved nephews, cousins, friends, and fellow
15 officers; and
16 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandparents,
17 Lawrence Purcell, and Cecille and Cornelius DeWit; therefore,
18 be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we mourn the death of Eric E. DeWit along with all who knew
22 and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his
23 friends, family, and fellow officers; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the family of Eric E. DeWit as an expression of
26 our deepest sympathy.
