| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to thank Dr. Ann Rondeau for her
service | 4 | | to the students, faculty, and staff at the College of DuPage | 5 | | and wish her well as she assumes a
new position as the | 6 | | President of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, | 7 | | California; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau holds a B.A. from Eisenhower College | 9 | | in New York, an M.A. from Georgetown
University in Washington, | 10 | | D.C., and an Ed.D. from the College of Education at Northern | 11 | | Illinois University,
as well as an honorary Doctorate in Public | 12 | | Service from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin and
an | 13 | | Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Rosalind Franklin | 14 | | University of Medicine and Science; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau is an honorable veteran of the U.S. | 16 | | Navy and served her country with
distinction for 38 years; she | 17 | | retired as a three-star admiral in 2012 and is the second
woman | 18 | | to ever achieve that rank; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau is a Fortune 500 Most Powerful Women | 20 | | panelist and speaker; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau is a past president of the National |

colleges and nine | 2 | | research centers in Washington, D.C.; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau's other previous positions include | 4 | | Deputy Commander of the U.S. Transportation Command in
| 5 | | Illinois, Pentagon Director/Chief of Staff for the U.S. Navy | 6 | | Staff, Commander of the Navy Personnel
Development Command in | 7 | | Virginia, Commander of the Naval Service Training Command at | 8 | | Great Lakes,
Pacific Fleet Staff Chief of Staff in Hawaii, and | 9 | | Commanding Officer of Naval Support Activity in
Tennessee; she | 10 | | served as a White House Fellow in 1985 in the Reagan | 11 | | administration; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau's dedication to service, education, | 13 | | community, and country was demonstrated through active | 14 | | membership on the Arizona State University Flag Officer | 15 | | Advisory Council, the National Museum
of the American Sailor | 16 | | Foundation Board of Directors, the Naval Postgraduate School | 17 | | Board of Advisors,
the Military Advisory Board, the Dwight D. | 18 | | Eisenhower Memorial Commission, the Chicago Regional
Growth | 19 | | Corporation Board, the Choose DuPage Board of Directors, the | 20 | | Council for Higher Education
Accreditation, and the Executive | 21 | | Board of the U.S. Navy Education for Sea Power Study; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau joined the College of DuPage (COD) in | 23 | | July of 2016 during a tumultuous time at the school; she

| 1 | | the sixth president in the history of COD and the first woman | 2 | | to hold the post; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, The College of DuPage is regionally accredited by | 4 | | the Higher Learning Commission; serving an approximately | 5 | | 25,000 students each term, it is the largest public community | 6 | | college in the State of Illinois; it grants seven associate | 7 | | degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical | 8 | | certificates in over 50 areas of study; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau oversaw an annual operating budget of | 10 | | approximately $180 million and an
annual revenue budget of | 11 | | close to $300 million; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau facilitated a comprehensive | 13 | | rebuilding of trust at COD as she navigated the
school through | 14 | | multiple governance, financial, and personnel challenges; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure at COD, Dr. Rondeau took | 16 | | meaningful steps to restore internal and
external confidence in | 17 | | the institution through dedication to individual and | 18 | | institutional integrity; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau fostered a culture that drove positive | 20 | | results by establishing and maintaining
strong relationships | 21 | | based on collaboration and participatory governance; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Rondeau will complete her service to the COD | 2 | | at the end of 2018 and assume a new role
as the president of the | 3 | | Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where she | 4 | | will work toward
transforming and modernizing education in the | 5 | | Navy and Marine Corps and bring a new emphasis on
science, | 6 | | technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education; therefore, | 7 | | be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 9 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 10 | | congratulate Dr. Ann Rondeau on a job well-done at College of | 11 | | DuPage and further congratulate her on her new position at the | 12 | | Naval Postgraduate School; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to Dr. Rondeau as an expression of our
esteem and | 15 | | respect.
