| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Gloria D. Thomas Twine; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was born to Reverend Huey Taft and | 5 | | Anna Louverda Thomas Sr. in Birmingham, Alabama on October 12, | 6 | | 1934; she graduated from Arthur Harold Parker Vocational | 7 | | School in Birmingham, Alabama; she later attended Alabama A&M | 8 | | University in Huntsville, Alabama; she married David R. Twine, | 9 | | and they moved to the Chicago area; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was a dedicated public school | 11 | | employee in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system, where she | 12 | | was affectionately known as "Mama Twine" to many students; she | 13 | | retired after serving the community for many years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was a faithful member of Carter | 15 | | Temple CME Church in Chicago, where she served for many years | 16 | | until her passing; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine served her community and regularly | 18 | | assisted with block parties to celebrate life, graduations, | 19 | | and seasons; she also served many aldermen and wards within | 20 | | the Chicago area; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was preceded in death by her husband | 2 | | and her siblings, Audria M. Thomas, Simpson Huntington, Huey | 3 | | T. Thomas Jr., and Andrew L. Thomas, M.D.; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Twine is survived by her nephews, Huey L. | 5 | | (Felicia) Thomas, John F. (Marita) Thomas, and Andre' (Pamela) | 6 | | Thomas, M.D.; her niece, Darcine A. (Howard) Thomas March; her | 7 | | great-nephews, Triston Thomas, Andrew Thomas, and Gabriel | 8 | | March; her great-nieces, Kenzie, Kaylen, Mia, Chloe, and Leila | 9 | | Thomas and Angela Charles; her great-great-nieces, London | 10 | | Thomas, Victoria Charles, and Siri Charles; her | 11 | | great-great-nephews, Royal and Joel Charles; and a host of | 12 | | relatives and friends; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 15 | | Gloria D. Thomas Twine and extend our sincere
condolences to | 16 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | 17 | | further
