| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Jack E. Miller of Antioch, who passed | 4 | | away on December 25, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller was born in Altamont to Theodore and | 6 | | Gertrude Miller on June 16, 1925; he grew up in Decatur and | 7 | | attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received a | 8 | | bachelor and master's degree; he married Doris J. Hill in | 9 | | Mattoon on August 14, 1949; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller dedicated 40 years of his life to | 11 | | education in Pontiac, and later, in Waukegan; he taught | 12 | | business and driver's education; he coached football, | 13 | | basketball, baseball, and track; he retired as athletic | 14 | | director in 1989; as a basketball coach, he served on the | 15 | | Chicago Daily News All Chicago and All State selection | 16 | | committee for 11 years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller was recognized by the Waukegan High | 18 | | School Wall of Honor, the Lake County Sports Hall of Fame, the | 19 | | Illinois High School, the College Basketball Hall of Fame, and | 20 | | the Eastern Illinois Sports Hall of Fame; he was guest speaker | 21 | | to numerous clubs, award dinners, coaching clinics, and | 22 | | graduations at the local, State and national level; he was a |

| 1 | | member and past President of the Antioch Lions Club and the | 2 | | Illinois Retired Teachers Association; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller was preceded in death by his wife of | 4 | | 65 years, Doris; his parents; his brother, William; and his | 5 | | sister, Wanda Anderson; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jack Miller is survived by his daughters, Karen | 7 | | (Michael) Dunlavey and Lynn (David) Jeskey; his son, Scott | 8 | | Miller; his 7 grandchildren; his 7 great-grandchildren; and his | 9 | | brother, Kenneth Miller; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Jack E. Miller, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
