| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald E. "Gus" Kissel of Springfield, | 4 | | who passed away on September 13, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was born in Ottawa to John F. and Anne | 6 | | (Kelly) Kissel on August 8, 1931; he graduated from St. Bede | 7 | | Academy in Peru and attended Purdue University; he served in | 8 | | the U.S. Army and married Margaret A. Roach at St. Patrick | 9 | | Catholic Church in LaSalle on June 20, 1953; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel worked for Illinois Bell for 38 years | 11 | | as a forecaster; he retired in 1990; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was named to the Chicago Tribune | 13 | | All-State Football Team and is in the St. Bede Athletic Hall of | 14 | | Fame for his football skills; he was a member of the Bell | 15 | | Pioneers and the Elks Lodge; he enjoyed golfing, spending | 16 | | winters in Florida, football, baseball, and reading westerns; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel was preceded in death by his parents; | 19 | | his granddaughter, Megan Leigh Kissel; and his brother, John F. | 20 | | Kissel; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gus Kissel is survived by his wife, Marge; his | 2 | | sons, Tom (Darla), Jim (Tammy), and Ken (Michelle) Kissel; | 3 | | seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, | 4 | | Robert (Bebe) Groter; and several nieces and nephews; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Donald E. "Gus" Kissel and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Gus Kissel as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
