1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of
4 Marcus H. Hodapp of Carlyle on Wednesday, March 12, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Hodapp was born on June 18, 1915 in Santa Fe
6 Township in Clinton County, the son of Henry E. and Emma
7 (Diekemper) Hodapp; he married Marcella Merscher on September
8 29, 1948 in Bartelso; she preceded him in death on September
9 19, 2002; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Hodapp owned and operated the Scoreboard
11 Tavern for seven years and the Chicken House for six years;
12 he also worked as a painter before working for the State of
13 Illinois Highway Department for 21 years; and
14 WHEREAS, He and his wife fried chicken for church and
15 civic events in the area for 50 years; he was a member of St.
16 Mary's Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1382, both
17 of Carlyle; he previously served as a Democratic precinct
18 committeeman; he was an avid gardener; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Hodapp has been deeply felt
20 by all who knew him, especially his sons, Ron Hodapp and wife
21 Maribeth, Dan Hodapp and wife Betsy, and John Hodapp; his
22 brother, Leo "Toad" Hodapp; his sister, Marcella Wuebbles;
23 and his grandchildren, Candice Hodapp, Jill Hodapp, LaVonda
24 Hodapp, and Chelsey Hodapp; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we mourn the passing of Marcus H. Hodapp and extend to his
28 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him our sincerest
29 condolences; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Marcus H. Hodapp as a token of our
