| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dollie Louise Goodwin, who passed away on | 4 | | January 23, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dollie Goodwin was born in Hamilton, Mississippi | 6 | | to Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Lee Nichols on July 28, 1939; she moved | 7 | | to Chicago and joined the Portland Street Church of God in | 8 | | Christ in
Chicago Heights; she graduated from high school on | 9 | | June 14, 1957 and married Edward Goodwin on June 8, 1958; she | 10 | | earned a Bachelor of Arts
in Business Administration in 1976; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dollie Goodwin enrolled in a real estate home
| 13 | | extension course offered by the LaSalle Extension University | 14 | | and on January 25,
1977 became a member of the South Suburban | 15 | | Board of Realtors; she served on the Women's Council Board of | 16 | | the Dearborn Real
Estate Board and become an area
manager for | 17 | | HUD, where she managed over 200 hundred properties; she later | 18 | | became a broker and opened
Goodwin's Realty; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dollie Goodwin continued with her education by | 20 | | earning a master's degree in biblical studies in 2011 and
a | 21 | | doctorate in 2015; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dollie Goodwin served as the National Y.P.W.W. | 2 | | President of the President's Wives; on July 12,
1984, she took | 3 | | the President's Wives and others to the White House and held a
| 4 | | luncheon on the White House lawn; she served as First Lady of | 5 | | Prayer Tower C.O.G.I.C from
1986 to 2018 and as First Lady at | 6 | | Portland Street C.O.G.I.C. from 1993 to 1997; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dollie Goodwin is survived by
her husband of over | 8 | | 59 years, Bishop R.D. Edward Goodwin Sr.; her children, Denise | 9 | | Wilson
(Tylon), Edward Goodwin (Chandra), Gina Johnson | 10 | | (Phillip), and Reuben Goodwin
Sr. (Kimberly); her | 11 | | grandchildren, Glenise Wiley (Timothy), Ivan Williams Jr. | 12 | | (Naomi),
Ciara Noel (Les III), Reuben Goodwin Jr., Jerlina | 13 | | Perkins (Clinton), Kianna Goodwin, Ashley
Goodwin, Dominique | 14 | | Hardwrick, Briana Goodwin, Joshua Goodwin, Diamond Goodwin, | 15 | | and
Destiny Goodwin; 13 great-grandchildren; her niece, | 16 | | Barbara Ann Claxton (Michael);
her nephew, Walter Nichols Jr. | 17 | | (Gabrielle); her in-laws, Dr. Bennie Goodwin (Melody), Delores
