| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Eldon Starnes of Bloomington, who passed | 4 | | away on October 22, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was born to James Kurt and Agnes | 6 | | (Livengood) Starnes in Bloomington on August 8, 1922; he | 7 | | enlisted in the U.S. Army one week before the bombing of Pearl | 8 | | Harbor; he served as a Technician fifth grade in the 388th | 9 | | Anti-aircraft Artillery during WWII; he was honorably | 10 | | discharged on January 4, 1946; he married June Lacy in | 11 | | Bloomington on October 18, 1946; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge, Eldon Starnes | 13 | | initially worked at the Meadows Washing Machine Company before | 14 | | going to work in East Peoria at Caterpillar; he retired in | 15 | | 1982; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was a member of the VFW Post 814 in | 17 | | Peoria; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes enjoyed bowling, country music, | 19 | | spending time with his family, and watching his beloved Chicago | 20 | | Cubs; he was thrilled to finally see them win the World Series | 21 | | in 2016; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; his wife; his daughter, Julie Morales; his two | 3 | | sisters; a brother; and his cousin, Edward Smiley; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Starnes is survived by his son-in-law, | 5 | | Hubert Morales; his brother, Norman; his three nephews, Steve | 6 | | Rousey, Terry Rousey, and Gary Starnes; and several cousins; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 10 | | Eldon Starnes and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, | 11 | | friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 13 | | presented to the family of Eldon Starnes as an expression of
| 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
