| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John E. "Jack" Benson of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on January 10, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Benson was born to Arnold and Eunice (nee | 6 | | Clapham) Benson on April 25, 1937; he graduated from North | 7 | | Elementary School, Waukegan Township High School in 1954, and | 8 | | the University of Denver with a degree in business | 9 | | administration; he served in the National Guard, earning the | 10 | | rank of Sergeant; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, John Benson became an electrician, working for his | 12 | | father at Benson Electric; when his father retired, he took | 13 | | over as President; he successfully ventured into traffic | 14 | | signals, street lighting, and other areas; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Benson was active with the National | 16 | | Electrical Contractors; he served as President of the Waukegan | 17 | | Jaycees and the Lake County Contractors Association; he was a | 18 | | 50-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical | 19 | | Workers Local 150 and a 54-year member the Glen Flora C.C. City | 20 | | Club; he served on the Apprenticeship Board and the Waukegan | 21 | | Historical Committee; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Benson enjoyed golf, traveling, sudoku, | 2 | | dancing, milkshakes, and the adventurous surprises his wife | 3 | | came up with such as heli-hiking, white water rafting, and | 4 | | kayaking; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Benson is survived by his loving wife of 55 | 6 | | years, Anne; his sister, Jane; his sister-in-law, Diane; and | 7 | | his numerous nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | John E. "Jack" Benson, and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of John Benson as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
