| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Reba J. Chaplinsky, who passed away on | 4 | | March 25, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on June 21, 1921, in Big Cove | 6 | | Tannery, Pennsylvania, to Lily and Maynard Crouse, the fourth | 7 | | of five children; she graduated from McConnellsburg High School | 8 | | in 1939, briefly attended Shippensburg College, before | 9 | | graduating from Central Penn Business College; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, She worked as an executive secretary for AMP in | 11 | | Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, before meeting her future husband, | 12 | | Peter; they were married on August 9, 1952; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, She was a friend to all who knew her and was known | 14 | | for her generous spirit and kind heart; her primary focus in | 15 | | life was her children, grandchildren, and friends; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted cook, an avid reader and letter | 17 | | writer, and a volunteer at her senior center, and she was | 18 | | active, sharp, and enthusiastic about life; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Reba Chaplinsky is survived by her children, | 20 | | Susan, Kathryn (James) Arter, Amy (Michael) Meehan, Molly |

| 1 | | (Mark) Gillis, and Peter (Liz); her grandchildren, Kim (John) | 2 | | Ritger, Kevin, Maddie, Ethan, Allison, Cassie, Sarah, Emma, | 3 | | Danny, Claire, Natalie, and Caroline; her great-grandson, | 4 | | Hank; her brother, Wayne (Virginia) Crouse; and numerous | 5 | | nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 | | her family and friends, the passing of Reba Chaplinsky; and be | 9 | | it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Reba Chaplinsky as a symbol of our | 12 | | sincere sympathy.
