| 2 | | WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Jane Christie Johnson of Oak Park, who | 4 | | passed away on July 14, 2020 at the age of 101; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was born to Axel and Ruby Anderson on | 6 | | July 29, 1918; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was an active member in her community | 8 | | and constantly volunteered her time at West Suburban Hospital, | 9 | | as a den mother for the local Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops, | 10 | | and as the treasurer of the Nineteenth Century Club; she | 11 | | organized bake sales at her local parish and monthly birthday | 12 | | celebrations for community members; she also hosted | 13 | | college-age foreign students in her Oak Park home while they | 14 | | studied English; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was hospitable and supportive to | 16 | | friends and strangers alike; she was known for her infectious | 17 | | energy and sparkle and enjoyed teaching neighborhood children | 18 | | about baking cookies, cakes, and pies as the "queen of pie | 19 | | crusts"; she loved to travel with her husband and family, and | 20 | | they explored a variety of places, including Greece, Alaska, | 21 | | the Bahamas, Italy, Ireland, and Paris; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, | 2 | | Raymond A. Johnson, and her eight siblings and their spouses; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Jane Johnson was the mother of Alan (Martie | 5 | | McMane), Curt (Sharyn), Jan Kelley, and Karen (Ali) Nimrouzi; | 6 | | the grandmother of Darrell (Marciel) Rikert, Sohrob Nimrouzi, | 7 | | Knowl Johnson (Shirley Tephly), Sahar (Jake) Hartsock, and | 8 | | Ramine Nimrouzi; the great-grandmother of Auden Hartsock, | 9 | | Emory Rikert, and Madden Hartsock; and the aunt to many nieces | 10 | | and nephews; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Jane Christie Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
