| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize citizens of the State | 4 |
| of Illinois who have worked to make Illinois a great place to | 5 |
| live; and | 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Organization of the NorthEast (ONE) | 7 |
| represents over 80 institutions serving the north side of | 8 |
| Chicago; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, These institutions comprise the leading churches, | 10 |
| tenant organizations, banks, businesses, and not-for-profit | 11 |
| and community-based organizations serving 300,000 citizens; | 12 |
| and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, ONE is a leading voice of advocacy on issues of | 14 |
| affordable housing, employment, welfare reform, youth policy | 15 |
| relations, criminal justice, and education; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, ONE strives to build and maintain successful mixed | 17 |
| economic and multi-ethnic communities; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, Sara Jane Knoy has served as the Executive | 19 |
| Director of ONE for the last decade, building a reputation as a | 20 |
| forceful policy advocate, effective organizer, and thoughtful | 21 |
| builder of collaborations and community empowerment; and | 22 |
| WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Sara Jane Knoy, ONE has | 23 |
| been named Community Organization of the Year by the Woods, | 24 |
| Weiboldt, New Prospects, and the John D. and Catherine T. | 25 |
| MacArthur Foundations; and
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Sara Jane Knoy has made vast and long-lasting | 27 |
| contributions to the residents of Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers | 28 |
| Park, North Center, and Lincoln Square; and |

| WHEREAS, Sara Jane Knoy led efforts to improve the public | 2 |
| safety in the Rogers Park community by spearheading the | 3 |
| Ceasefire, anti-violence program; her leadership of this | 4 |
| program and her efforts working with the Chicago Police | 5 |
| Department, community leaders, elected officials, and | 6 |
| Ceasefire outreach workers led to progress in reducing violence | 7 |
| in the Rogers Park community; and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, Sara Jane Knoy believed deeply in investing in the | 9 |
| youth of Chicago's northside communities and fought to ensure | 10 |
| that they had additional educational and recreational | 11 |
| programs; she was a key participant in the Rogers Park Yes | 12 |
| summer jobs program, which helps employ over 250 youth; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS, Sara Jane Knoy will leave ONE and the City of | 14 |
| Chicago in December to assume the role of lead organizer of the | 15 |
| Granite State Organizing Project in New Hampshire; therefore, | 16 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 19 |
| we extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to Sara Jane Knoy | 20 |
| for making a lasting impact on the residents of the City of | 21 |
| Chicago and wish her success in her future endeavors; and be it | 22 |
| further

| RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be | 24 |
| presented to Sara Jane Knoy.
