| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Billy C. Brooks of Mechanicsburg, who | 4 | | passed away on March 18, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was born in Springfield to Carl and | 6 | | Carlton (Guernsey) Brooks on October 23, 1944; he graduated | 7 | | from Tri-City High School in 1962, where he was active in the | 8 | | Future Farmers of America and earned a varsity letter in cross | 9 | | country; he earned a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from the | 10 | | University of Illinois; he married Carol Sue Briggs in | 11 | | Mechanicsburg on February 28, 1975; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was a lifelong farmer and retired | 13 | | pharmacy technician; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was a volunteer at multiple animal | 15 | | shelters, a regular blood donor, and a longtime member of the | 16 | | Sangamon County Farm Bureau; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks enjoyed spending time with his | 18 | | family, working on the farm, reading, hiking, and traveling; | 19 | | he attended Fountain of Life UM Church in Buffalo; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks was preceded in death by his |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Billy Brooks is survived by his wife, Sue; his | 3 | | children, Steven Wayne Hunter, Scott Howard Brooks, Erin | 4 | | Gracie Brooks, Paul William Brooks, and Michael Carl Brooks; | 5 | | his grandchildren, April Hunter, Jennifer Brooks, Stephanie | 6 | | Hunter, Bobby Brooks, Karl Brooks, William Brooks, and | 7 | | Madeline Brooks; his great-grandchildren, Gracie Conover, Noah | 8 | | Smith, Beckham Smith, Carmen Bakunis, Gunner Barnes, Gatlin | 9 | | Peterson, and Declan Brooks; and his sister, Patricia | 10 | | Bolattino; therefore, be it
