| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Marvin "Marv" J. Dahlhauser of East | 4 | | Moline, who passed away on December 5, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser was born to Peter and Josephine | 6 | | (Elbert) Dahlhauser in Tallulah, Louisiana on March 22, 1933, | 7 | | and his family moved to Whittemore, Iowa shortly after his | 8 | | birth; he graduated from Presentation Academy in Whittemore in | 9 | | 1951, where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball star; | 10 | | he attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa for two years before | 11 | | enlisting in the U.S. Army; he served in Korea for two years; | 12 | | after returning from Korea and using the GI Bill, he graduated | 13 | | from the University of Iowa in 1958 with a major in accounting; | 14 | | he married Bernadette Huber in Aitkin, Minnesota on August 22, | 15 | | 1959; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser worked for Deere & Company as a | 17 | | traveling auditor and moved from dealership to dealership for | 18 | | three months at a time; after 28 years in various positions at | 19 | | Deere, he retired in 1986 and worked part time as an income tax | 20 | | preparer; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser was a man of great faith and an | 22 | | active member at St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline; |

| 1 | | there, he served as a trustee, finance manager, money counter, | 2 | | and as a Eucharistic minister; he also enjoyed volunteering, | 3 | | including helping the elderly with their finances and taking | 4 | | nursing home residents to Catholic Mass; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser was a member of the Knights of | 6 | | Columbus, the American Legion, Catholic Foresters, Korean War | 7 | | Veterans, and the Quad City Cribbage Club; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser enjoyed working in his yard and | 9 | | garden, playing golf, and reaching his daily step goal at the | 10 | | local grocery store; he loved playing cards, especially bridge, | 11 | | which he also taught; he will be remembered as an energetic, | 12 | | personable, joy-filled extrovert; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser was preceded in death by his | 14 | | parents; his brothers, Paul, Henry, Edward, Pete, and James; | 15 | | and his sisters, Agnes, Helen, Jodie, Marie, Margie, and Angie; | 16 | | and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Marv Dahlhauser is survived by his wife of 61 | 18 | | years; his three children, Karl (Pamela) Dahlhauser, Keith | 19 | | Dahlhauser, and Kate (Richard) Pickett; his eight | 20 | | grandchildren, Benjamin, Grant, Thomas (Megan), Helen, and | 21 | | Sylvia Dahlhauser and Ashley, Alexander, and Andrew Pickett; | 22 | | his
one brother, Arthur Dahlhauser; and his many nieces and |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 4 | | Marvin "Marv" J. Dahlhauser and extend our sincere
condolences | 5 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | 6 | | it further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 8 | | presented to the family of Marv Dahlhauser as an expression of
| 9 | | our deepest sympathy.
