| HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives wish to thank Lee Dungey for his dedicated | 4 |
| service to his nation during World War II; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey entered active service with the U.S. | 6 |
| Marine Corps on March 16, 1944; after training at the Marine | 7 |
| Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California, he was assigned | 8 |
| to the Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion of the 5th | 9 |
| Marine Division for training at Camp Tarawa, Hawaii in support | 10 |
| of troops on Iwo Jima; following the battle's end, he | 11 |
| participated in the occupation of the Japanese mainland until | 12 |
| June 26, 1946, when he was honorably discharged with the rank | 13 |
| of Corporal; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge, Lee Dungey | 15 |
| returned to his pervious employer, Furnas Electric Company in | 16 |
| Batavia, where he retired after 46 years of service; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey is a member of the Marine Corps League | 18 |
| (Fox Valley Detachment 1233) and the American Legion in | 19 |
| Batavia; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey and his wife of 67 years, Laura, have | 21 |
| five children, eight grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; |

| WHEREAS, Lee Dungey's great courage and devotion to his | 3 |
| country are worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it
| 4 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 5 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 6 |
| thank Lee Dungey for his dedicated service to his nation during | 7 |
| World War II and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and | 8 |
| be it further
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 |
| presented to Lee Dungey as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
