| 2 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung grew up in Beverly Hills, a | 3 | | neighborhood in Chicago; she attended Knox College before | 4 | | marrying Frank C. Howard, Jr. and moving to McHenry County; she | 5 | | resided in Bull Valley since 1950, where she raised their | 6 | | children, Karen, Frank, and Lynne; she later married John Jung; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung became a realtor, then a broker with | 9 | | John Jung Real Estate in Crystal Lake; she was a top | 10 | | salesperson for many years and was recognized by the McHenry | 11 | | County Association of Realtors for her "outstanding service and | 12 | | contributions to the real estate profession"; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, As an early Bull Valley resident, Nancy Jung | 14 | | expressed her love of the arts by working in the Woodstock | 15 | | Opera House; she appreciated fine art, and music, especially | 16 | | opera; in 1953, she became a member of the Bull Valley Garden | 17 | | Club, where she served as President in 1957 and again in 2002; | 18 | | along with the Bull Valley Association, she and other Garden | 19 | | Club members made a lasting and visible difference along the | 20 | | roadsides by planting thousands of returning daffodils; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Bringing her vast knowledge of the community and | 22 | | its history, Nancy Jung served as a trustee on the Board of |

| 1 | | Directors of the Bull Valley Association for nearly a decade, | 2 | | where she helped neighbors get to know each other and the area | 3 | | through the Association's "Progressive Dinners"; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung loved the country and shared her | 5 | | friends' desire for a riding club, where members could ride | 6 | | horses freely across property lines; as a founding member of | 7 | | the Bull Valley Riding Club, she worked tirelessly to build | 8 | | owner participation, obtain easements, and open, map, and | 9 | | maintain over 80 miles of Riding Club trails; when horse and | 10 | | rider safety were at risk on one trail, she secured funding for | 11 | | the planning, design, and construction of a bridge completed in | 12 | | 2012 over Boone Creek; she took her last ride on September 27, | 13 | | 2015; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung was an expert trap shooter, earning | 15 | | Ladies Grand Champion honors several years running; an | 16 | | accomplished skier, she served on the area ski patrol; she took | 17 | | her children canoeing and took her grandchildren whitewater | 18 | | rafting; she loved the beach, the Palisades, the ocean, and the | 19 | | lake; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung was an avid reader, writer, and editor; | 21 | | she was a member of the Serendipity Book Club, where she shared | 22 | | her knowledge and love of literature; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung was a longtime member of Saint Ann's | 2 | | Episcopal Church, where she served on the Vestry and as a | 3 | | member of the choir; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Jung is survived by Karen and Rob Predale; | 5 | | Hilary, Tyler, and Maura Predale; Frank Howard and his | 6 | | children, Christopher and Heather Kaufman; Lynne and Brett | 7 | | Reed; and John Jung's family and grandchildren; therefore, be | 8 | | it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 11 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Nancy Howard Jung; and | 12 | | be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Nancy Jung as an expression of our | 15 | | sympathy.
