| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Duane Brooke Cultra of Onarga, who passed | 4 | | away on November 16, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Duane Cultra was born to Archie James and Grace | 6 | | Greenwood (Brooke) Cultra in Watseka on March 13, 1925; during | 7 | | World War Two, he served as a B17 pilot and flew 53 missions | 8 | | and sorties before being wounded by antiaircraft flack fire; he | 9 | | married Mary Jane Teller in St. Petersburg, Florida on June 2, | 10 | | 1944; after the war, he attended the University of Illinois and | 11 | | earned a degree in electrical engineering; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Duane Cultra was president of the Onarga Nursery | 13 | | Company, which was started by his grandfather, Robert Cultra, | 14 | | in 1865, after his return from service during the Civil War; | 15 | | the nursery continues to operate under the direction of family | 16 | | members; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Duane Cultra's love for flying continued | 18 | | throughout his life; he enjoyed traveling with his wife in his | 19 | | Piper Comanche and did so until his 80th birthday; he was a | 20 | | strong man with a loving, compassionate side; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Duane Cultra was preceded in death by his parents; |

| 1 | | his brothers; his sisters; and his daughter, Lucinda Brooke | 2 | | (Alvin) Wilken; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Duane Cultra is survived by his wife of 76 years, | 4 | | Jane; his children, Terence Patrick (Donna) Cultra, Cynthia | 5 | | Jane (Douglas) Harford, Shane (Peg) Cultra, and Mary Melissa | 6 | | (James) Downey; his 16 grandchildren; and his 30 | 7 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 10 | | Duane Brooke Cultra and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 14 | | presented to the family of Duane Cultra as an expression of
our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
