| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James "Jim" E. Stack Jr. of Collinsville, | 4 | | who passed away on December 24, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was born to James E. Stack Sr. and Wilma | 6 | | Rose (Grob) Stack in Granite City on July 20, 1947; he | 7 | | graduated from Granite City High School in 1965; he served in | 8 | | the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; as a member of the | 9 | | Construction Battalion, he served 18 months in Da Nang Vietnam; | 10 | | he first served as a member of Naval Intelligence but mainly | 11 | | worked as a truck master for the Port of Da Nang; he was | 12 | | awarded the Navy Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with | 13 | | one Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Navy Unit | 14 | | Commendation Ribbon, and three commendations for breaking the | 15 | | record of materials shipped in one day and breaking that record | 16 | | twice more; he married Karen (Griffith) Stack in Edwardsville | 17 | | on November 27, 1985; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack first worked at McDonnell Douglas before | 19 | | joining the service; he then worked as a Rate Setter for the | 20 | | former General Steel Company, and he served as the Assistant | 21 | | Superintendent of Streets in Granite City; he had also owned | 22 | | and operated Stackorp, Inc./St. Louis Lead Recycling and Stack | 23 | | Environmental Consulting; later, he also co-owned and operated |

| 1 | | REDCO Marine and Stackers Restaurant; he retired in December | 2 | | 2013 from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 11 | 3 | | years of dedicated service as the Urban Planning Unit Chief; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was involved in his community throughout | 6 | | the years, serving on various boards and volunteering for many | 7 | | organizations; most recently, he was serving on the | 8 | | Collinsville Township Board of Trustees and as a Madison County | 9 | | Deputy Coroner; he had served as Madison County Democratic | 10 | | Party Chairman from June of 2012 until April of 2014; he was a | 11 | | member of the Masonic Lodge and Jesters and a lifetime members | 12 | | of AMVETS Post #204 in Madison; he was a member of the Ainad | 13 | | Shrine in East St. Louis and the Troy/Edwardsville Shrine Club | 14 | | and served on the Shriner's Honorary Guard and the director's | 15 | | staff; he was also a former Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in | 16 | | Granite City; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack enjoyed boating and fishing; he had many | 18 | | friends and was considered to be the life of the party; he knew | 19 | | how to have fun, cherished his grandchildren, and had an | 20 | | amazing array of accomplishments; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was preceded in death by his parents and | 22 | | his aunt, Eleanor Buente; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Stack is survived by his wife of 35 years; his | 2 | | two stepchildren, Paul (Gigi) DeLuca and Laura DeLuca (Joe | 3 | | Pavlovec); his four grandchildren, Nigel DeLuca (Allison | 4 | | Kelly), Killian DeLuca, Aaron Stadts (Emily Otten), and Adam | 5 | | Stadts (Kylee Patterson); his six brothers, Daniel (Dil) Stack, | 6 | | Raymond Stack, Michael (Joann) Stack, Bradley (Patti) Stack, | 7 | | Anthony (Robin) Stack, and Stephen Stack; his two sisters, | 8 | | Kathleen (Dave) Cerny and Anna Marie "Amy" Stack; his | 9 | | sister-in-law, Kaye (Richard) Wilson; and many nieces, | 10 | | nephews, extended family, and friends; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | James "Jim" E. Stack Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to | 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
