| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Oyedele "Oye" Olupitan of Chicago, who | 4 | | passed away on August 18, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was born to Mary E. and David D. | 6 | | Olupitan in Chicago on February 23, 1978; he attended Young | 7 | | High School and Calumet High School and then studied at Kennedy | 8 | | King College; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was an entrepreneur and talented | 10 | | lifestyle merchandiser, automotive technician, jewelry | 11 | | designer, and visual artist, specializing in drawing and | 12 | | airbrushing; he also worked for Ford Motor Company and Amazon; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan had a passion for recording his own | 15 | | rap music, fashion, poetry, traveling, cooking, eating, | 16 | | dancing, libations, top of the line footwear, The Chicago | 17 | | Bulls, especially during the championship era, and swimming; | 18 | | his family meant everything to him; he had a big personality, a | 19 | | sarcastic sense of humor, and an infectious smile and will be | 20 | | remembered as an influential neighborhood icon; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan was preceded in death by his parents |

| 1 | | and his infant daughter, Kaliya Alayla Skye Olupitan; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Oye Olupitan is survived by his daughter, Jasmine | 3 | | Monique Hodges; his grandson, Tacari Zarell Wright Jr.; his | 4 | | brothers, Olumide Olupitan and Taiwo Olupitan; his sister, | 5 | | Kehinde Olupitan; his niece, Olivia Olufumilayo | 6 | | Alexander–Olupitan; his uncle, Larry Taylor; his aunt, Louise | 7 | | Taylor; the entire Hodges family; his special friends, Berahyah | 8 | | Hodges and Trish Jackson; and his extended children, Corey | 9 | | Pendleton and Divine Jackson; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 12 | | Oyedele "Oye" Olupitan and extend our sincere
condolences to | 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
