| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles Edward "Sonny" Clark Jr., who | 4 | | passed away on March 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. was born in Meridian, | 6 | | Mississippi to Ada May and Charles Alan Clark Jr. on January | 7 | | 20, 1945; his family was a part of the "Great Migration" and | 8 | | moved to Chicago, where he graduated from Skinner Elementary | 9 | | School and completed his education at Cregier High School; in | 10 | | high school, he joined the neighborhood Drum and Bugle Corp and | 11 | | developed a lifelong love of music, especially jazz; he found | 12 | | joy in music and played the bass and snare drums; he married | 13 | | Donna Jones in April 1969; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. enjoyed sharing in the ministry | 15 | | of Jehovah with his spiritual brothers and sisters; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. enjoyed entertaining his family | 17 | | and friends; he was an excellent cook and was known for his | 18 | | creative and intricate carpentry designs; he turned his love of | 19 | | skating into a family adventure by handcrafting the family's | 20 | | skates and designing personalized skate bags; and

| 1 | | mother and his grandson, Jamel Cook; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Charles Clark Jr. is survived by his wife, Donna; | 3 | | his daughters, Sharunda Clark, Cassandra Davidson, Charlene | 4 | | Clark, Margaret (Glen) Taylor, and Keisha Clark; his sisters, | 5 | | Maxine Brown, Cheryl (Earl) Johnson, and Revlon (Larry) Burton; | 6 | | his brothers, Jerome Clark and Ronald Clark; his grandchildren, | 7 | | Jonai and Jaszmin Madison, Juwan, Kahill, and Nina Davidson, | 8 | | and Dominique Hodgens-Clark; and his many nieces, nephews, | 9 | | cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Charles Edward "Sonny" Clark Jr. and extend our sincere | 13 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 14 | | him; and be it further
