| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Thérèse Ruddy Longley Anlauf of Palos | 4 | | Verdes Estates, California, who passed away on July 9, 2022; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf was born to Walter and Annette | 7 | | Ruddy on May 21, 1926; she graduated from Madonna High School | 8 | | in Aurora; she studied at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, | 9 | | Minnesota for two years; she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts | 10 | | from Loyola Marymount University 40 years later; she first | 11 | | married Donald Halliwell Longley, and they had six children | 12 | | before he preceded her in death in 1965; she married Joseph F. | 13 | | Anlauf Jr., the father of five, in 1968; upon their marriage | 14 | | and family merger, they settled in River Forest and later | 15 | | moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf had many interests; she enjoyed | 17 | | knitting, needlepointing, painting, studying genealogy, | 18 | | camping, selling real estate, traveling the world, throwing | 19 | | clay pots, rebuilding a Michigan beach house, and, after | 20 | | studying Native American weaving, fashioning intricate baskets | 21 | | with the pine needles she fished out of the pool; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf's journey through life was |

| 1 | | primarily about making memories with friends, parents, | 2 | | siblings, spouses, and especially her children and | 3 | | grandchildren; she will be remembered for being clever, | 4 | | creative, kind, beautiful, generous, good-hearted, gutsy, and | 5 | | ever optimistic; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Thérèse Anlauf was preceded in death by both of | 7 | | her husbands; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Thérèse Anlauf was | 9 | | survived by her daughters, Laura Longley, Sarah (Christopher) | 10 | | Lauzen, and Martha Longley; her sons, James (Vicki) Longley, | 11 | | Stephen (Alison Denis) Longley, and Halliwell (Denise) | 12 | | Longley; her stepdaughters, Christine (Charles) Sabatino, | 13 | | Celeste Anlauf, Sara Smith, and Julie (A. William) Wade; her | 14 | | stepson, Joseph (Karen) Anlauf; her 20 grandchildren; her 12 | 15 | | great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, and | 16 | | friends, especially Ranelranz Bongayan and Kristine Espina; | 17 | | therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Thérèse Ruddy Longley Anlauf and extend our sincere | 21 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 22 | | her; and be it further
