| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Ida Marie Walker Lake, who passed away on | 4 | | February 29, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ida Lake was born in Brownsville, Tennessee to | 6 | | John Currie and Mary Frances (Carter) Currie on June 2, 1931; | 7 | | she was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church and married | 8 | | Roger E. Walker, Sr. in Corinth, Mississippi in 1947; she later | 9 | | married Prentice Lake; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ida Lake and her family relocated to Decatur; she | 11 | | became a charter-member of the Church of the Living God P.G.T., | 12 | | where she served as choir President and was a member of the | 13 | | Kitchen Committee, Usher, and on the Mission Board; several | 14 | | years later, her son, Thomas, founded the Main Street Church of | 15 | | the Living God, where she was a charter-member and served on | 16 | | the Mothers and Mission Boards; she was dedicated to Sunday | 17 | | School; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ida Lake was called "Grandma" by numerous people; | 19 | | she often assisted parents by transporting, feeding, and caring | 20 | | for their children; she loved to cook large meals for her | 21 | | family and her church family; she was well known for her | 22 | | signature caramel cakes and sweet potato and egg pies; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ida Lake was preceded in death by her second | 2 | | husband, Prentice; her parents; her son, Roger E. Walker, Jr.; | 3 | | 13 brothers and sisters; and her granddaughter, Kamisha | 4 | | Walker-Hodge; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ida Lake is survived by her sons, Dr. Overseer | 6 | | Thomas (Margaret) Walker, Arthur Lee (Terri) Walker, Hilda | 7 | | Walker, and Timothy Lake; her stepdaughter, Faye McClelland; | 8 | | her foster daughter and niece, Diane Bond; her sister, Doris | 9 | | Lawrence; her special sister and niece, Mildred Taylor; her | 10 | | grandchildren, Tammie Shaw, Pierre Perkins, Anthony Corey | 11 | | (Sylvia) Walker, Ryan (Sherrie) Walker, Robin Ketchens, Shane | 12 | | (Alisha) Walker, Adrian Walker, Shalen Walker, Jalynn Walker, | 13 | | Emoni Lake, Shannon Bond, Martina Bond, Soraya Lake, and Lebron | 14 | | and Landon Robinson; her sisters-in-law, Beulah Currie, Mary | 15 | | Ann Boyd, Flora Jean (AD) Brooks, and Dimple Walker; her | 16 | | special nieces, Clara (Leroy) Clark, Louverna (Tim) Hess, Linda | 17 | | and Erika Taylor, Margaret (Rhee) Walker, and Barbara (Fenner) | 18 | | Bond; her special nephews, Bobby Lawrence and Ricky (Vanessa) | 19 | | Goforth; her god daughters, Ellen Young and Vivian (Millard) | 20 | | Goodman; and a host of great-grandchildren, | 21 | | great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, Main | 22 | | Street Mission Board, Main Street Church family, and friends; | 23 | | therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 3 | | Ida Marie Walker Lake, and extend our sincere condolences to | 4 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 5 | | further
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to the family of Ida Lake as an expression of our | 8 | | deepest sympathy.
