| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski of | 4 | | Waukegan, who passed away on September 2, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was born on April 15, 1927 to | 6 | | Charlotte R. and Narcyz "Nicholas" Snarski; he graduated from | 7 | | Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School in North Chicago in 1940; he | 8 | | graduated from Waukegan Township High School in May of 1944, | 9 | | where he played in the Junior band and took part in Junior | 10 | | Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), in which he attained | 11 | | the rank of Captain; he married Sally Reynolds Sexton on | 12 | | February 13, 1954 at St. Anastasia Catholic Parish in Waukegan; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski began attending the University of | 15 | | Notre Dame in June of 1944, but his studies were interrupted | 16 | | when he was drafted into the United States Army; after | 17 | | completing basic training, he was transferred to Camp Hood, | 18 | | Texas, where he became an Infantry Rifleman; he served at the | 19 | | Field Artillery Camp at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from June 21, 1945, | 20 | | to October 31, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a | 21 | | Private First Class from the Headquarters Battery of the Fifth | 22 | | Field Artillery Group of the United States Army; after the | 23 | | completion of his military service, he was readmitted to the |

| 1 | | University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors on January | 2 | | 30, 1949; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski graduated from the Northwestern | 4 | | University School of Law on January 30, 1952; he was admitted | 5 | | to the Illinois Bar on November 17, 1952 and obtained a | 6 | | position with the law firm of Hall, Meyer and Van Deusen; in | 7 | | 1955, he began working for James Herman and Co. as a claims | 8 | | adjuster and engaged in the practice of law with Charles May; | 9 | | he served as a felony probation officer for Lake County from | 10 | | 1955 to 1962; in 1956, he joined the firm of Lidschin and | 11 | | Pucin; he later became a partner at the law firm of Conzelman, | 12 | | Schultz, O'Meara, and Snarski; he served as the city attorney | 13 | | for the cities of Park City, Round Lake, and Kildeer and as the | 14 | | assistant city attorney for the City of Waukegan, where he also | 15 | | served as the city secretary; additionally, he served as the | 16 | | Treasurer of the Lake County Bar Association for 5 years; he | 17 | | practiced law until his retirement on January 31, 2006; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was preceded in death by his wife | 19 | | of 60 years, Sally; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski is survived by all 8 of his and | 21 | | Sally's children; daughter, Elisabeth (F. Steven) Bissell; 3 | 22 | | children, Katherine (Eric) Richardson, Maria, and Eleanor; her | 23 | | son, William; daughter, Sarah (Robert) Berrett; 2 children, |

| 1 | | Kaitlyn and Emily; triplet sons, Thomas (Marijean); 2 children, | 2 | | Theresa and Rebecca; Andrew (Cindy); 2 children, Nicole and | 3 | | Alexander; and Timothy (Shawn); 4 children, Felicia, Marianna, | 4 | | Andrea, and Amelia; son, Nicholas (Jill); 4 children, Stephen, | 5 | | Madeline, Sally, and Nicholas; daughter, Maria (A. | 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski, and extend our sincere | 11 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 12 | | him; and be it further
