| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Charles B. Jackson Sr., who passed away | 4 |
| on May 4, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS,
He was born November 16, 1921, in the | 6 |
| Administration Building of the Western Military Academy in | 7 |
| Alton to Ralph Leroy and Mary (Borden) Jackson; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He and the former Jane Figgatt were married on | 9 |
| June 14, 1947; Charles Jackson Sr. graduated from the former | 10 |
| Western Military Academy in 1939 and continued his education at | 11 |
| Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, His college years were interrupted when he | 13 |
| enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps during World War | 14 |
| II and served as an officer in North Africa, Italy, and | 15 |
| Germany; after the war, he was a decorated veteran who returned | 16 |
| to Washington and Lee and graduated in 1947; he was a history | 17 |
| teacher, coach, and administrator at Western Military Academy | 18 |
| until the school closed in 1971; he taught at Civic Memorial | 19 |
| High School from 1971 until 1988, when he retired; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and three | 21 |
| brothers, Albert, Ralph, and William Jackson; and

| WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Jackson Sr. will be deeply | 2 |
| felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jane; | 3 |
| his sons and their families, C.B. and Ellen Jackson and their | 4 |
| children, Matthew, Jane, David and Thomas, and Randy and Lynne | 5 |
| Jackson and their sons, Luke and Tyler; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Charles B. Jackson Sr.; | 9 |
| and be it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Charles B. Jackson Sr. as a symbol | 12 |
| of our sympathy.
