| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William J. "Billy" Burns, who passed away | 4 | | on April 1, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Burns was born in Chicago to Francis | 6 | | "Pinky" Bums and Frances Coughlin on February 24, 1931 and | 7 | | resided on the Northwest
side along with his five siblings, | 8 | | Peggy, Carol, the late Jack, DelAnne, and Sandy; he married | 9 | | Lois Eberle in 1953 and they went on to have seven children, 23 | 10 | | grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, William Burns initially practiced dentistry in | 12 | | the United States Navy; he opened his own practice in Deerfield | 13 | | in 1955, ultimately
moving to Lake Cook Plaza in 1979; his | 14 | | sons, Mike and Billy, practiced alongside him, and he proudly | 15 | | looked
forward to his grandsons, Billy and Joey, joining the | 16 | | dental ranks soon; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, William Burns enjoyed golfing, boating, playing | 18 | | Pickleball, frequenting non-gourmet parties, and attending | 19 | | countless sporting events, ceremonies, and plays; he enjoyed | 20 | | serving up his infamous "Bill's hot dogs" at the
cottage, and | 21 | | traveling frequently, with an annual boys-only fishing trip to | 22 | | Red Lake, Canada; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, William Burns gave back to
the community over the | 2 | | years in a variety of roles; in the mid-1950s, he served as one | 3 | | of the original founding
members of Deerfield Days; he joined | 4 | | the Deerfield Lions in 1957 and later served as its President; | 5 | | he was
President of the Holy Cross School Board and President | 6 | | of the Lake County Dental Society; the Town
of Deerfield | 7 | | appointed him Grand Marshal of its 4th of July parade
in 2010; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, William Burns is survived by
his children and | 10 | | their families, Linda (Joseph) Daniel with Tim (Meagan) - Ellie | 11 | | and Addy, and Erin (Brad)
Baum - Devin, Jean Carlson with Dan | 12 | | (Kara), Michael, and Kelly, Mike (Lisa) with Billy, Joey, | 13 | | Casey, and
Jack, Tom (Janet) with Will, Zach, Marin, and Tommy, | 14 | | Judy Paslaski with Tommy, Kara, Meagan, and Phoebe,
Billy | 15 | | (Heidi) with Corey, Johnny, Devin, and Riley, and the late Jim | 16 | | (Dawn) with Jimmy and Lexi; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 19 | | William J. "Billy" Burns, and extend our sincere condolences to | 20 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 21 | | further
