| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Lewis Deck of Girard, who passed | 4 | | away on March 14, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck was born on October 9, 1930, in | 6 | | Girard; his parents were Lewis Wyman and Naomi (Parks) Deck; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck graduated from Girard High School in | 9 | | 1948; he subsequently earned his degree from the University of | 10 | | Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1952; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck served his country with pride as a | 12 | | member of the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War | 13 | | from 1953 to 1955; he earned the rank of corporal at the time | 14 | | of his discharge; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck was a registered pharmacist and a | 16 | | co-owner of Decks Drug Store in Girard, which was started in | 17 | | 1884 by his grandfather; he worked there for over 40 years | 18 | | until his retirement in 2001; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck was a member of Parkway Christian | 20 | | Church in Springfield; he was also a member of Guy Baird |

| 1 | | American Legion Post #544, the American Pharmacists | 2 | | Association, the Illinois Pharmacists Association, the | 3 | | National Association of Retail Druggists, the Girard Library | 4 | | Board (chairman), the Macoupin County Historical Society, the | 5 | | Girard Community Center (secretary), the Girard Chamber of | 6 | | Commerce, and the Girard High School Alumni Association; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck was preceded in death by his parents, | 8 | | Lewis and Naomi Deck; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Robert Deck is survived by his brother, Wyman P. | 10 | | "Bill" Deck, and his many friends; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 13 | | his family and friends, the passing of Robert Lewis Deck; and | 14 | | be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Robert Deck as an expression of our | 17 | | sympathy.
