| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Bernice T. Midden of Springfield, who | 4 | | passed away on April 22, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Midden was born on June 22, 1925 in | 6 | | Springfield; her parents were Peter Laksus and Theresa Shandor | 7 | | Laksus Hryhorysak; she married Charles Henry Midden on January | 8 | | 28, 1954 in Springfield; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Midden served as a legislative assistant | 10 | | in the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate for 26 | 11 | | years; she is fondly remembered as a spirited mentor and as a | 12 | | "businesswoman" before being a businesswoman was commonplace; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After retiring, Bernice Midden moved to the Lake | 15 | | of the Ozarks, Missouri, where she opened her home to family | 16 | | and friends for cherished summer vacations; she relocated to | 17 | | Springfield in 2006; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Midden was preceded in death by her | 19 | | parents; her loving husband, Charles; and her siblings, Joe | 20 | | Hryhorysak, Bernie Hryhorysak, Anna Mae Miner, and Kathryn | 21 | | Reese; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Midden is survived by her daughters, | 2 | | Terese (Lonnie) Lucas and Marcia Simmons; her grandchildren, | 3 | | Brent Lucas, Emily (Dustin) Ozier, Adam Lucas, and Elyse | 4 | | (Jared) Matulevich; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Ozier, | 5 | | Alisynn Ozier, Josie Lucas, and Elle Matulevich; her siblings, | 6 | | Jeanette Miner, Terri Petrie, Bill Locksus, and Sam Hryhorysak; | 7 | | and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Bernice T. Midden; and | 11 | | be it further
