| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gladys Piat, who passed away on June 2, | 4 | | 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Piat was born in Granton, Wisconsin to Anna | 6 | | and Herman Riedel; she moved to Illinois and received a | 7 | | secretarial certificate from Lake Forest College and a nursing | 8 | | certificate from St. Therese Hospital; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Piat started her career as an executive | 10 | | secretary at Abbott Laboratories before leaving to raise her | 11 | | family; she then worked for several Waukegan physicians and | 12 | | area firms as a bookkeeper; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, beginning in 1980, Gladys Piat | 14 | | enjoyed volunteering at Vista Hospital with her husband, | 15 | | Walter; she most recently knitted caps for newborn babies; for | 16 | | over 65 years, she was a faithful member of Trinity United | 17 | | Church where she served in many capacities; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Piat was preceded in death by her parents; | 19 | | her son, David; her sisters, Gertrude, Frances, Lovella, | 20 | | Adelma, and Florence; and her brothers, Harold and Herman; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Piat is survived by her sons, Vince (Cheri) | 2 | | and Michael; her daughter-in-law, Jane; her sisters, Dolores | 3 | | and Ione; her grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Donnelly, Caitlin | 4 | | (Jeff) Thompson, Benjamin Piat, Daniel and Jonathon Piat, and | 5 | | Zach Kalk; her great-grandchildren, Finn and Beckett Donnelly, | 6 | | Theodore Chandler, and Harrison Thompson; and Ben's | 7 | | girlfriend, Caitlin Talbot, and her daughter, Jade Lunsford; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Gladys Piat, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | 12 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Gladys Piat as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
