1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Robert B.
4 Hupp, Sr., of Aurora who passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Hupp was born on April 21, 1924 in Chicago,
7 the son of the late Earl and Loyola (Kelly) Hupp; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Hupp graduated from Fordham University; he
9 then served his country with the U.S. Air Force during World
10 War II as a Lieutenant; subsequently, he graduated from
11 Harvard Law School in 1950; he joined the Aurora law firm of
12 Frank R. Ried, Jr., and Lambert M. Ochsenschlager in 1951;
13 the firm became Reid, Ochsenschlager, Murphy and Hupp until
14 1983 when he and William C. Murphy formed their own firm of
15 Murphy, Hupp and Kinnally; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Hupp was a long-time member of the Kane
17 County, Illinois State, and American Bar Associations; he
18 received a Fifty Year Award in 2001 from the Illinois Bar and
19 was active in the estate planning committees of those
20 associations and counseling his many clients until shortly
21 before his death; and
22 WHEREAS, Mr. Hupp was a long time director of the Farmers
23 State Bank of Somonauk and was counsel to the Fox Valley Park
24 District for more than 30 years; he was a member of the
25 Aurora Country Club and a Past President of the Serra Club;
26 he was a member of Holy Angels Parish for over 50 years; also
27 special to him was the Marmion Abbey community, of which he
28 was an Affiliate Member and Life Trustee of Marmion Academy;
29 and
30 WHEREAS, Mr. Hupp's passing will be deeply felt by many,
31 especially his wife of 50 years, Rita (Hanley) Hupp; his 5

1 children, Robert (Eileen) Hupp, Jr., Kate (Craig) Collinson,
2 Dr. Jon (Shelley) Hupp, Michael (Eileen) Hupp, and Mark
3 (Kathie) Hupp; his 11 grandchildren, Robby, Sara, and Emily
4 Hupp, Erin and Rob Collinson, Alyson, William, Elizabeth, and
5 Laura Hupp, and Kevin and Katie Hupp; his brother, John
6 (Terry) Hupp; his sister, Margaret Ramsay; and his many
7 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
10 Robert B. Hupp and extend our sincere condolences to his
11 family and friends; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Robert Hupp as an expression of
14 our deepest sympathy.
