| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kim Splain of Jacksonville, who passed | 4 | | away on May 21, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was born on November 25, 1952 in | 6 | | Jacksonville; his parents were Freddie and Norma Jean Bartlett | 7 | | Splain; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain served as a paratrooper in the United | 9 | | States Army during the Vietnam War and was proud to have walked | 10 | | to Washington, D.C., in 1981 to raise funds for the Vietnam | 11 | | Veterans Memorial; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a salesman at Front Row in | 13 | | Jacksonville for many years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was a 37-year member of American Legion | 15 | | Post 279 in Jacksonville and served as Commander for 14 years; | 16 | | he was also a member of Sons of the American Legion; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain loved adventure, whether it was jumping | 18 | | out of an airplane or zip-lining with his buddy Joe; he loved | 19 | | to travel, especially to Hawaii and Bermuda with his companion; | 20 | | he also enjoyed watching "The Rifleman", NASCAR, and "The |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain was preceded in death by his mother; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Kim Splain is survived by his companion, Debbie | 5 | | Doerr; his daughter, Brandi Splain; his grandchildren, Trey and | 6 | | Ashton; his father; his sister, Rae Lynn Dawson; his brother, | 7 | | Stuart Splain; and his dog, Sugar; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Kim Splain; and be it | 11 | | further
