| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Lake Land College on the
| 4 | | occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lake Land College was approved by voters in
13 | 6 | | public school districts in 1966; one year later, classes | 7 | | officially
began in various short-term buildings; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, On March 11, 1971, the ribbon cutting ceremony for
| 9 | | the permanent campus was held; two years later, on
March 30, | 10 | | 1973, Lake Land College was granted full accreditation
status; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Virgil H. Judge was named the first President of
| 13 | | Lake Land College on March 1, 1967; classes started on | 14 | | September
6, 1967 in temporary facilities; the second | 15 | | President, Dr. Robert D. Webb, assumed the office on July 1,
| 16 | | 1972, and during his tenure, he oversaw the full recognition | 17 | | and
accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges | 18 | | and
Universities; Dr. David V. Schultz took over as President | 19 | | on
August 1, 1984 and oversaw the college's transition from
| 20 | | quarters to semesters; Dr. Robert K. Luther became the fourth
| 21 | | President on July 1, 1988 and guided the college to numerous
| 22 | | achievements, including the dedication of many new buildings,

| 1 | | the annexation of new districts, and a milestone enrollment of | 2 | | over
10,000 at the end of Spring 2004; Dr. Bill J. Thallemer
| 3 | | became the fifth President of Lake Land College
on July 1, | 4 | | 2006; Scott Lensink who was Vice-President of
Academic Services | 5 | | took over as the sixth President; finally, Dr.
Josh Bullock | 6 | | became the seventh and current President of
Lake Land College; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Lake Land College consists of 308 acres of land,
| 9 | | seven major buildings, eight supporting buildings, 160 acres
of | 10 | | agricultural land, two campus ponds, and five athletic teams; | 11 | | it serves over 7,000 students; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| 14 | | congratulate Lake Land College on its 50th
anniversary, and we | 15 | | wish it continued success in the future; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
| 17 | | presented to Lake Land College President, Dr. Josh Bullock, and
| 18 | | the Lake Land College community.
