| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Florida Sullivan, who passed away on June | 4 | | 27, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was born in Hushpuckena | 6 | | Mississippi to Oscar
Sr. and Dora McElroy on December 18, 1935; | 7 | | she graduated from school in her home town and relocated to St. | 8 | | Louis
in 1952, where she resided for a brief period before | 9 | | moving to
Chicago in 1958; she married Roderick E. Sullivan; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was employed in the housekeeping | 12 | | industry for over 30 years; she worked at the Palmer House, the | 13 | | John Hancock building, Lake Point Tower, and numerous other | 14 | | locations in the Chicago Loop and Lake Shore Drive
areas; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan attended New True Vine | 16 | | Missionary Baptist Church; she enjoyed time with her family and | 17 | | friends, chocolate treats,
playing cards, working in her yard, | 18 | | and BINGO; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was preceded in death by her | 20 | | husband, Roderick; her parents; and her siblings, Flora, Susie, | 21 | | Emma, Maggie, Oscar Jr., and Nancy; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan is survived by her children, | 2 | | Royce (Lisa D.), Roschelle, Emmanuel (Nellie R.), and Andrea | 3 | | (Dennis); her sister, Dora; her brother, William H.; her | 4 | | grandchildren, Royce Jr., Laronce, Jontel, Shanita, Terry Jr., | 5 | | Roderick,
Demi, Denee, Rodney, Joshua, and Denise Maryanna; 11 | 6 | | great-grandchildren; and a
host of nieces and nephews; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Florida Sullivan, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Florida Sullivan as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
