| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance | 4 | | Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski of Wheaton, who was killed while | 5 | | conducting combat operations in the Helmand Province in | 6 | | Afghanistan on August 18, 2010; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski was a Wheaton | 8 | | resident for over 22 years and a 2005 graduate of Glenbard | 9 | | South High School in Glen Ellyn; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on | 11 | | June 23, 2008; he served as a light-armored vehicle crewman and | 12 | | was conducting mounted combat operations against enemy forces | 13 | | at the time of his passing; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, He was assigned to the 1st Light Armored | 15 | | Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine | 16 | | Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton, California; he was | 17 | | awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the | 18 | | National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign | 19 | | Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Sea | 20 | | Service Deployment Ribbon; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski was the |

| 1 | | cherished son of Stephen and Mary (nee Groom); the loving | 2 | | brother of Carrie (fiancee, Jason Plaszek), Michael, and his | 3 | | late twin sister, Avy; the dear grandson of Avy and the late | 4 | | William Clint Groom, and the late Norman and Sylvia Oratowski; | 5 | | the fond uncle of Charlie and Joey; the dear godson of John and | 6 | | Kathy Gallo; the fond nephew of Loretta and Walter Kloog and | 7 | | Shari and Bruce Barnich; a dear friend; and the devoted cousin | 8 | | of many; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful | 12 | | nation, the passing of Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski; and | 13 | | be it further
