| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of David Zola of Urbana, who passed away on | 4 | | September 28, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Zola was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to | 6 | | Remo and Elinor Zola on May 29, 1947; he graduated from Lenox | 7 | | High School in 1965; he continued his education at Fairfield | 8 | | University, Williams College, and Cornell University; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1978, David Zola accepted a position as an | 10 | | assistant research professor at the University of Illinois and | 11 | | for the next 40 years distinguished himself as an outstanding | 12 | | teacher and professor in the College of Education; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Outside of the classroom, David Zola served as a | 14 | | youth minister at St. Patrick Parish; he was ordained as a | 15 | | deacon in May 2012, a role which allowed him to positively | 16 | | influence the lives of others every day; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, David Zola lived to mentor and encourage his | 18 | | students and fostered many long-lasting friendships along the | 19 | | way; he considered his children as his greatest gifts; he | 20 | | affected many lives and will be remembered for his humor, | 21 | | grace, and compassion; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, David Zola is survived by his wife, Susan; his | 2 | | daughters, Sarah (Eli) Zola Khazoum and Anne Zola; his son, | 3 | | Luke Zola; and his sister, Dale Zola; therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | David Zola and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 7 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of David Zola as an expression of our | 10 | | deepest sympathy.
