| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lester Charles Larson of Cleveland, who | 4 | | passed away on October 15, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lester Larson was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa to | 6 | | Kenneth and Hazel VanKlaveren Larson on October 12, 1932; he | 7 | | was a veteran of the United States Navy; he married Lillian | 8 | | Bekerian in Boston, Massachusetts on July 3, 1955; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Lester Larson worked as a welder for many years; | 10 | | he was later employed as a foreman at John Deere Harvester | 11 | | Works and installed HVAC in his spare time; after retiring from | 12 | | John Deere, he worked with his sons at their arms manufacturing | 13 | | business, Rock Rover Arms, in Colona; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Fondly referred to as "Kong" due to his size, | 15 | | Lester Larson was a member of the Colona American Legion Post | 16 | | 1233, where he was a commander, helped add on to the building | 17 | | after a fire, and volunteered his time as a cook; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Lester Larson enjoyed fishing and mushroom | 19 | | hunting, as well as picking wild black raspberries and farming | 20 | | sweet corn; he also enjoyed entertaining his family and | 21 | | friends; he was an avid sports fan, and cheered on the Chicago |

| 1 | | Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and, back to his "Bostonian" roots, | 2 | | the New England Patriots; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Lester Larson was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents; his son Mark Larson; and his brother, Herman Larson; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Lester Larson is survived by his wife, Lillian; | 7 | | his children, Linda (Jim) White, Lisa (Gary) Sides, Mike | 8 | | (Debbie Tyner) Larson, and Chuck (Melissa) Larson; his | 9 | | grandchildren, Chad, Jennie, Matt, Jeremy, Sara, Katie, | 10 | | Kenneth, Kassandra, Kyle, Jake, Trenton, and Logan; his | 11 | | great-grandchildren, Kaya, Gage, Paige, Bradlee, Elyn, | 12 | | Kinsley, Brinley, and Maddison; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Lester Charles Larson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
